Work placements and partnerships with schools: an investment in the future

At Walvoil, we have always invested in ongoing collaboration between the company and the education sector – a relationship that is key to supporting young people on their journey of professional and personal development.

Nine work placement programmes have recently come to an end, involving students from the IIS Silvio d’Arzo and IIS Nobili technical colleges in Reggio Emilia - Italy, who were involved within our factories in various operational areas: assembly and testing, mechanical engineering and industrialisation.

During the FSL (Formazione Scuola Lavoro = Education, School and Work) programme, the students had the opportunity to experience a real-world business environment, actively participating in departmental activities and acquiring technical and transversal skills that will be useful for their future.

At the end of the programme, each student presented a final report to their peers, structured to provide a comprehensive account of their journey: from a description of their role and objectives, through the tasks carried out, to the skills acquired.

This was an important moment not only for summarising their experience, but also for sharing insights and personal growth.

The presentations clearly highlighted the value of the experience gained within the company:
•    the opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice,
•    the use of specific tools and technologies,
•    the development of technical skills relevant to the role.

Alongside these, soft skills have played a central role: learning to work in a team, meeting deadlines and following rules, listening to one’s line manager and communicating effectively.

The direct interaction between the school and the company, combined with the active involvement of company mentors, helps to create a practical and valuable learning experience, capable of guiding the students in their future career choices.
