“OrientarSI verso il futuro” in Walvoil SPA: a meeting to support employees, students and families in their educational and career choices.

On Friday, 14 November, the event ‘OrientarSI verso il futuro’ (Orienting yourself towards the future) was held in the events hall of Walvoil Spa's production and Research and Development centre in Corte Tegge (Cavriago – RE, Italy). ‘OrientarSI’ is an educational and career guidance initiative promoted by the company and aimed at its employees, their families, and young students in middle school, high school, and university.

The meeting, which had both an educational and informative purpose, offered an overview of the changes and challenges in the job market and, above all, the new opportunities in educational and professional paths in a constantly evolving world.

During the afternoon, speeches were given by Cristina Falavigna, Education and Training Area, Confindustria Reggio Emilia, Francesca Sorbi, General Manager of CIS Reggio Emilia, and Francesco Leali, Full Professor, Department of Engineering ‘Enzo Ferrari’, Director of the Department of Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Managing Director of MUNER - Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna.

Cristina Falavigna provided an overview of the local socio-economic context and the crucial skills required by the market. She also showed how the demands of the labour market in Emilia Romagna Region far exceed the availability of the profiles sought.

Francesca Sorbi focused in particular on opportunities related to post-diploma technical and professional training, with an emphasis on IFTS (Higher Technical Education and Training) and ITS MAKER (Higher Technical Institutes) courses, which aim to develop technical and cross-disciplinary skills that are in high demand in the market, such as automation, robotics, cybersecurity, data governance and digital marketing.

In closing, Professor Leali focused on key issues such as the mismatch between labour supply and demand, the need for a multidisciplinary approach, the promotion of talent, inclusion in STEM fields and the rapid pace of change in educational pathways, with a focus on the degree programmes offered by Unimore.

The meeting, attended by over 60 people, and guided by Alessandra Sidoli and Chiara Camellini, both HR Walvoil Spa, concluded with the involvement and contribution of Federica Fantuzzi, Luca Parmiggiani, Francesca Valli, Davide Mattioli and Gabriele Ginelli, young Walvoil employees who shared their educational and professional experiences. Their stories and anecdotes brought the opportunities illustrated during the event closer and made them more concrete.

Walvoil has always been committed to promoting opportunities and guidance and training programmes, and with this first new internal initiative, it wanted to get even closer to its employees and their families, providing essential information so that young people can make increasingly informed choices about their future.
